Death In A Fortress

This composition is both a suite of four movements and a single rhapsody for organ. To accomplish this, I have written two endings for the inner movements: a coda which terminates that movement if one is playing the suite and a continuation for the full concert piece. The continuation leads attacca to the next movement.

Laudemus Domine (below) is a short antiphon from the Michaelmas, the feast of angels. Les Anges is built on the this chant, permeated in nearly every measure by its motivs. However, it coalesces into four distinct sections each an image of one of the principle archangels.
